In 1982, Mr. Lundin obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma USA. Between 1984 and 1996 Ian (and family) lived in Dubai UAE, working as the drilling manager of International Petroleum Corporation (IPC). He was appointed President and CEO of IPC in 1990. The family moved to Geneva in 1996. After the merger of IPC with Sands Petroleum in 1998, he continued as CEO of the new company, Lundin Oil AB, until its takeover by Talisman Energy for SEK 4 billion in 2002. A new company was created as a result of the sale of Lundin Oil (Lundin Petroleum AB) of which Ian was appointed CEO and then Chairman in 2004. Lundin Petroleum is today the second largest independent oil company in Europe by market capitalization. Ian also serves as Chairman of the Board for Etrion Corporation and Bukowski Auktioner AB. He spends most of his time travelling for business and pleasure, while following the investments of LVP.
